GNC / Controls Engineer
About Us
Souremphi develops advanced autonomous systems for defense and mining operations.
Our platforms combine AI, high-performance engineering, and field-tested reliability to operate in complex and demanding environments.
We deliver scalable, mission-ready solutions built for real-world conditions.
About the Role
As a GNC / Controls Engineer on the UAV team at Souremphi, you'll design and develop state estimation, guidance, and control laws, take them from simulation (SITL/HITL) to embedded implementation, and validate in flight. You’ll collaborate across autonomy, perception, and embedded teams to deliver robust real-time behavior on mission-critical platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement state estimation, guidance, and control algorithms (PID/LQR/MPC)
- Build sensor fusion pipelines (e.g., EKF, visual-inertial) and tune flight controllers
- Run Monte Carlo, SITL, and HITL simulations; analyze flight logs and iterate
- Integrate algorithms on embedded targets with strict real-time constraints
- Collaborate with autonomy, perception, and embedded teams for system-level tuning
- Contribute to flight test planning, execution, safety, and regression analysis
You should have the following
- Degree in Aerospace, Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Strong foundations in control theory, estimation, and flight dynamics
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for algorithm development and tooling
- Hands-on experience with PX4/ArduPilot or equivalent autopilot stacks
- Comfort analyzing logs and implementing data-driven improvements
Nice to have
- Experience with GPS-denied navigation (vision/LiDAR/terrain-relative)
- Familiarity with MPC and nonlinear control methods
- Experience with Unreal/AirSim/Gazebo and HIL environments
- Contributions to open-source robotics or autopilot projects
We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Souremphi.
